About SweepWatcher

Sweep
Watcher

Who runs this, how a giveaway gets onto the board, and the ones we turn away.

Who's behind it

SweepWatcher is an independent, one-person operation based in New York. It started as a tracker built for personal use — a way to stop wasting mornings on giveaways that had already closed, or that turned out to be closed to the state the entrant lives in.

It is not owned by, funded by or affiliated with any sponsor, brand, agency or promotion platform. No sponsor pays to be listed, and no listing carries an affiliate link — the Enter button goes to the sponsor's own page, and nobody is paid when you click it. The only money in the business is the subscription, which is why the subscription is the only thing it has to keep honest.

How a giveaway gets onto the board

Every morning, in this order.

Step 1 · Found

The sweep

The morning sweep reads nearly a hundred sources — directory sites, promotion platforms like Gleam and SweepWidget, and sponsors' own promotion pages — and notes anything new: sponsor, deadline, prize.

Step 2 · Queued

The rules queue

A new find goes in the queue with no claim attached: no eligibility line, no entry link, just a search button. It is hidden on the board unless you switch the queue on.

Step 3 · Read

The rules

Fifteen to twenty queued listings a morning get their official rules opened and read, against the checklist below. What passes moves across to rules-checked.

Step 4 · Retired

The cleanup

Anything whose deadline has passed is deleted the next morning. A listing that turns out to need a purchase, or has no free route at all, is removed and doesn't come back.

What reading the rules means

The checklist every rules-checked listing has passed.

The ones we can't read

Recorded with the reason, and kept off the board.

Some promotions can't be checked, and when that happens we say so rather than guess. Those listings never appear as rules-checked, and they are retried on a schedule rather than every morning:

ReasonWhat it meansRetried
Widget onlyThe rules exist only inside a JavaScript widget, with no plain page behind them. After 60 days
RefusedThe sponsor's site turns automated readers away. After 60 days
RobotsThe site's robots.txt asks automated readers to stay out — and we honour that.Never
Dead linkThe rules page the sponsor links to is gone. After 30 days
No rulesThe sponsor publishes no official rules at all. After 60 days
UnreadAnything else that stopped the rules being read. After 60 days

We never work around a refusal — no cached copies, no mirrors, no scraping a page that wouldn't serve us. If a sponsor won't let its rules be read by software, the honest answer is that they haven't been read.

What we don't do

Enter for youNever. Most rules void scripted entries, and a few void autofilled ones. You fill in and submit every form yourself.
Run giveawaysWe don't operate any promotion, hold any prize, or have any say in who wins.
Ask for your detailsEmail, your state and your ticks — nothing else. No field anywhere for your name, address, phone or date of birth.
Sell or share dataNothing about you is sold, rented or handed to a sponsor. The Privacy Policy lists every service that touches it.

When we get one wrong

It will happen: sponsors move deadlines, edit their rules and occasionally pull a promotion early. Every listing on the board has a Report a problem link that opens an email already naming the listing — tell us what's wrong and it gets checked against the rules and corrected or removed. The sponsor's official rules always govern; where they and a listing here disagree, they're right and we're wrong.

Anything else — a question, a cancellation that didn't go through, a sponsor asking for a listing to come down — goes to support@sweepwatcher.com.
